Tulsa, OK – On today's ST, we speak with the noted food writer and cookbook author --- and eight-time winner of the James Beard Award --- Colman Andrews, whose newest book is called "The Country Cooking of Italy." Drawing on more than 40 years of experience traveling and eating in Italy, Andrews explores every region, from Piedmont to Puglia, and provides the fascinating origins of dishes both familiar and unexpected, both simple and complex. With scores of lavish photos, a foreword by Mario Batali, and some 230 mouth-watering recipes, this book affords readers an in-depth look at a flavor-focused culture that's deeply rooted in rural traditions. And as Andrews points out on our program today, talking about the rich and varied cuisine of Italy also means talking about the foods and folk-ways of the various nations situated near Italy.
