Tulsa, OK – Tulsa council wants ethics review of mayor

TULSA, Okla. (AP) The Tulsa City Council wants to know if Mayor Dewey Bartlett committed an ethics violation.

The council voted unanimously to ask the city's Auditor's Office to investigate the mayor's accepting free legal services from an attorney who has done legal work for the city in the past.

Attorney Joel Wohlgemuth represents Bartlett while the council investigates whether the mayor and his chief of staff lied about how a federal grant could be used. Wohlgemuth's firm has billed the city for nearly $1 million since 2003 for legal work on several cases.

Bartlett says he doesn't believe there has been any manner of ethical violation regarding Wohlgemuth's representing him.
