Council Investigation to Begin

By KWGS News

Tulsa, OK – The Tulsa City Council formalized its investigation into Mayoral Chief of Staff Terry Simonson. The council met in an executive session Thursday afternoon to work out the details. Being investigated is whether Simonson, knowingly misled the city council over the use of a federal grant.

The city repurposed a federal grant to be used to rehire 35 laid-off Tulsa Police officers. Simonson had told the council that the grant change request could not be submitted until there was a triggering event, such as actually laying off the officers. Later it was learned the federal government only need notice that the lay-offs were about to happen.

The investigation is expected to take up to six weeks.
