CNG Auto Sales and Conversions Surge in Tulsa

KWGS News

As gasoline prices climb, business  booms for one Tulsa auto dealer. Ted Massad is with CNG Auto Sales at 37th and South Memorial. He says many people are coming to his lot looking for CNG powered cars and pick-ups.

The price for a used CNG powered vehicle is usually between $5,000 and $20,000. Massad has years ranging from 2000 to 2011, in various models,  on the lot.

Massad's firm also does conversions from gasoline to CNG. That costs around $6,400. There is a state tax credit that pays for half of that expense He says it usually takes three to five days to complete a conversion.

Gasoline is selling for $3.59  a gallon in Tulsa.  CNG is priced around one-dollar per gallon-equivalent.
