Norman, Oklahoma – The start of jury selection has been postponed for a day in the trial of a civil lawsuit over the deaths of 10 people in an Oklahoma turnpike crash.
Forty-six potential jurors appeared in Cleveland County District Court on Wednesday and were told by District Judge Tom Lucas to fill out questionnaires. They are to report back to court Thursday. Twelve jurors and three alternates will be chosen.
Authorities say a semi driven by 76-year-old Donald Creed of Willard, Mo., slammed into vehicles that had stopped for a previous accident on Interstate 44 near Miami on June 26, 2009.
Creed was driving for Kansas City, Kan.-based Associated Wholesale Grocers, and both are defendants in the case. He pleaded guilty to negligent homicide and served a 30-day sentence.
