City Legal Department: Can't Do More with (any) Less

KWGS News/TGov

The Tulsa City Attorney tells the City Council the Legal Department cannot cut more and still do its job. David O’ Meilia told the council his department is authorized for 31-employees but, because of a hiring freeze, only has 26.

He says the budget submitted for the department is the absolute bare minimum to carry on city legal functions. He says there is no fat left in the department.

O’Meilia says city council and the mayor  are required, by law, to fund the department as needed to carry out its charter mandates.
