City Cyber Attack Update
The recent attack on the City of Tulsa web server is leading to a criminal investigating. City officials fear some personal information may have been compromised.
City officials are notifying all individuals whose personal information was potentially accessed. Those include online job applicants who applied through the City’s website and citizens who reported crimes to Tulsa Police through the website.
City Manager Jim Towmbly says letters were mailed to each person who was potentially impacted. The letters contained web links and information to credit monitoring agencies and consumer protection measures. City officials also established a Resource Center to take calls and respond to email to further assist those who received these letters.
"Like numerous cities across the country, the City of Tulsa experiences and successfully repels attempts to access IT infrastructure every day. The City of Tulsa IT officials regret the inconvenience this may cause and they are implementing a comprehensive assessment of the City servers and IT infrastructure to prevent unauthorized access and to restore the full website."
This incident is part of a criminal investigation with law enforcement authorities.
