City Council Action

By KWGS News

Tulsa, OK – The Tulsa City Council okays rising the fares for the Tulsa Transit's Lift program. Lift transports the elderly and disabled who cannot easily use regular mass transit. The council okayed raising the fare from $2.50 to $3.00 per trip. The Americans With Disabilities Act limits how much the city can charge for the service.

In other council action, The council agreed to repurpose a federal grant to rehiring 35-of the laid-off Tulsa Police officers. That means 89-officers are still out of work.

Five members of the City Council agreed to take a pay cut. Councilors John Eagleton, Roscoe Turner and Jack Henderson declined to have their salaries cut. City Councilors are paid $18,000 a year.
