By KWGS News/AP

Tulsa, OK – In a copyrighted story, The Tulsa World reported the son of the chief of staff to Tulsa's mayor was allowed to test for the city's firefighter academy despite the program already being full.

Chief of Staff Terry Simonson and his son Ryan Simonson also gained unauthorized access to the fire training facility to practice. The action was determined to be an unintentional mistake but Ryan Simonson was told to withdraw from the testing.

Terry Simonson told the Tulsa World that he exerted no undue influence did nothing wrong in asking Fire Chief Allen LaCroix to allow his son into the testing process. LaCroix told the newspaper he believes he would have done the same for any other candidate who had worked to get fire-related training.
