Broken Arrow, OK – Woman charged with second-degree murder for wreck

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (AP) Wagoner County prosecutors have charged a Claremore woman with second-degree murder in connection with a vehicle crash that led to a Broken Arrow man's death.

Dena Harl also was charged Wednesday with possession of a controlled substance for allegedly having the anti-anxiety medication, Alprazolam.

Authorities allege Harl swerved across two lanes of a Broken Arrow street and struck a truck driven by Henry Northcott Nov. 7. Northcott died of his injuries Dec. 2.

Authorities say Harl's blood tested positive for various opiates. Court documents also show she pleaded no contest to a driving while impaired charge stemming from a traffic stop 20 days before the Broken Arrow collision.

Harl's attorney, Jack E. Gordon, couldn't be reached after hours Friday for comment.
