Charges Dropped Against 9 of 19 in Meth Bust

McALESTER, Okla. (AP) — Prosecutors in Pittsburg County have dropped 24 felony counts against a woman in a methamphetamine investigation, making her the ninth person out of 19 arrested to have their charges withdrawn.

District Attorney Wesley Cherry said Friday that an appeals court ruling negated the penalty attached to some of the charges, so a number of the cases are being dismissed.

Authorities charged 28-year-old Karolyn Renee Lebaron of McAlester last month for allegedly making illegal purchases of pseudoephedrine.

The McAlester News-Capital reports Lebaron's charges were dropped on January 14th.

State and federal authorities combined efforts on the investigation. Eight others had their charges dismissed January 10th.
