It all started, yesterday afternoon, with a disturbance call in Rogers County. Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a report of a man shooting his neighbor's cat. When officers arrived they found much more.
Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton says deputies found a stash of weapons, ammo and improvised explosive devices. Walton says some of the explosive were nothing more than glorified fireworks. However, some were produced into small pipe bombs. The small devices, made out of PVC pipe, have a street name of "Crickets". Sheriff Walton says they are strong enough to severely injure someone.
The Tulsa Police Bomb Squad was called in to help defuse the situation. Bomb Techs and Sheriff's Deputies were on the scene all evening and into the overnight hours.
In custody is 52-year-old Robert Ellison. Sheriff Walton says the man has a criminal past, including a felony conviction. With a felony conviction, owning firearms is prohibited.
Charges are pending. Walton does not know yet if state or federal charges will be sought.
