Business Destroyed in Downtown Nowata

Rnach Supply/Facebook

Officials are sifting through the debris of the former Ranch Supply store in the heart of Nowata. The investigators are looking for the cause of an early morning blaze that destroyed the business.

No one was injured and there were no evacuations despite the business being filled with highly combustible feed grain and pesticides.

Nowata EMS Supervisor David Kember says the flames were so intense that Burlington Northern shut down rail traffic though Nowata until the fire was put out. U.S. Highway 60, which is also Cherokee Street in Nowata, was also shut down.

The fire was reported about 5 a.m.  Fire crews from nearby cities and towns, including Bartlesville, were called into help battle the blaze.
