Broken Arrow, OK – Broken Arrow city manager leaving

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (AP) The Broken Arrow City Council has voted 5-0 to accept a "separation agreement" and end the contract of City Manager Jim Twombly.

The vote Monday night comes two weeks after Twombly placed Fire Chief Jackie Carner on paid leave for undisclosed reasons.

City officials say the two instances are not related and that the city needs different leadership.

Mayor Mike Lester praised Twombly for his work but says the city now needs a new person to move the city in a different direction.

The council appointed assistant City Manager Dave Wooden as interim city manager.

Twombly will receive a severance package that includes a payment of $123,284 by June 30.

Twombly did not attend the meeting and could not be reached for comment.
