Bracing for the Storm

Tulsa, OK – With a winter storm expected to impact the Tulsa area starting late Wednesday thru Friday, the Public Service Company of Oklahoma is "preparing for the worst, while hoping for the best." That is the word from PSO spokesman Stan Whiteford.

While this new winter storm is not expected to be as strong as the 2007 ice storm, it could contain enough ice to cause power outages. Whiteford tells KWGS the utility will have crews from sister power companies on stand-by to move in and help restore power if need be.

Whiteford says PSO will again use the Expo Square area as a staging area for crews should that be the case. He says PSO's tree trimming program will help, but just the weight of the ice and gusty winds can still bring down lines.
