Boynton Judgeship

Tulsa, OK – Prosecutor: Man not eligible to be Boynton judge

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) The Muskogee County prosecutor says a Tulsa man who claims to be a candidate for judge in Boynton is not eligible for the post.

Political adviser Bruce Niemi told the Tulsa World he's under consideration for the position. But District Attorney Larry Moore told the Muskogee Phoenix on Saturday that Niemi is not eligible because he doesn't live in Muskogee County or an adjacent county as required.

A working phone number could not be found for Niemi or Boynton Mayor Gloria Wilson. Town Administrator Melvin Easily did not return a phone call for comment.

Moore filed nepotism charges last week against Wilson and Easiley in connection with the hiring of Wilson's brother as a police officer. Each has pleaded not guilty.
