Baghdad, Iraq – Okla US Rep. Dan Boren visits Iraq with Boehner

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) U.S. Rep. Dan Boren has left Iraq after a brief visit to that country with House Speaker John Boehner and four other members of Congress.

The one-day visit to Iraq by the bipartisan six-member delegation ended Sunday morning.

Boren, D-Okla., says the delegation focused on studying issues concerning the planned withdrawal of U.S. military forces by the end of the year and how the two nations can work to maintain a good relationship in the future.

Boren says the trip comes at "a crucial time for Iraq." He says the delegation visited U.S. commanders and soldiers and saw how successful they've been "in providing greater security to the Iraqi population" and in allowing Iraq's government to meet the needs of its people.
