Boeing Moving Jobs to Oklahoma

By Associated Press

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – A Boeing Co. executive says when 550 engineering jobs are moved from California to Oklahoma, the company plans to hire "hundreds" from the Sooner State.

Steve Hendrickson, Boeing's director of government operations, spoke Monday at a Greater Oklahoma City Chamber luncheon. He told The Oklahoman the company is making offers in California but that in the first quarter of 2011, Boeing will start to hire in Oklahoma.

He says the average salary of the jobs will be about $130,000 a year.

Boeing announced in August it plans to move its C-130 Avionics Modernization program and its B-1 program to Oklahoma City during the next two years. Boeing already has about 1,000 employees in Oklahoma, with about 450 of those in Oklahoma City.
