Board May Reconsider Chief ME Hire

By Denise Brewer

Oklahoma City, OK – The Oklahoma Board of Medicolegal Investigations is delaying its' decision to offer an Arizona doctor the job of chief medical examiner.
Dr. Phillip Keen was offered the job in September if he passed a background check by the OSBI. It has since been disclosed that Keen once transported the body of a suspected murder victim about 100 miles in the back of his pickup truck.
The board met privately this week with an OSBI agent. After the meeting board members expressed their concern over Keen's action.
Dr. Keen served as the chief medical examiner in Yavapai and Maricopa counties in Arizona. His explanation for transporting the body is he needed to get a specific examination done in another city and it was easier to take his own truck. The trip happened in the Arizona summertime.
