Tulsa, OK – Based on recent test results, ALL blue-green algae closures, warnings, and advisories at Fort Gibson and Skiatook Lakes have been lifted.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District collected water samples at Fort Gibson Lake Sept. 27 and at Skiatook Sept. 23. After analysis, results showed that the blue-green algae levels have dropped below the advisory level at both lakes.

Also, the blue-green algae warning at Sandy Bass Bay and Porum Landing at Eufaula Lake have been changed to the advisory level. The lake-wide advisory still remains in effect and water contact is discouraged.

Water sampling was collected at Eufaula Lake on Sept. 26. After analysis; results showed that although the blue-green algae levels at Eufaula Lake have improved, they still remain at the advisory level.

The Porum Landing swim beach was closed due to the algae levels present there. Though the levels have improved to the advisory level, the beach is closed due to the end of the normal recreational season.

Eufaula Lake is OPEN to boating and fishing. Boaters are advised to avoid any areas with visible algae scum. Fish should be cleaned well and entrails should be discarded, but fish are fine to consume.

All Corps recreation areas are open to camping.

Water sampling has been conducted at Keystone and Tenkiller Lakes and is currently being analyzed. Updates will be posted as they become available.
