Coweta, OK – Okla. park signs lease with Wagoner County

COWETA, Okla. (AP) An amusement park that lost its lease with Tulsa County has signed an agreement with a neighboring county.

Bell's Amusement Park official Robby Bell signed a 50-year lease with Wagoner County on Monday during the county commissioner meeting.

The deal hinges on whether Wagoner County voters approve a quarter-cent sales tax increase to pay for acquiring the property where the park, an expo center and other attractions would be located.

Bell says Wagoner County Commissioner Tom Vincent approached him five weeks ago with a proposal to reopen the park in Coweta.

Vincent said the county has been working for more than a year on a plan to create a "mini" Tulsa Fairgrounds. He says Bell's was chosen because of its reputation and longevity.
