Oklahoma City, OK – Anheuser-Busch purchases OKC wholesale operation

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Beer giant Anheuser-Busch has purchased an Oklahoma City beer wholesaler and related assets for about $182 million.

Anheuser-Busch purchased Premium Beers of Oklahoma in an acquisition that executives say was completed on Dec. 30. The transaction includes the company's 33-acre warehouse and distribution center. Other details were not disclosed.

Premium Beers was started in 1968 by Dennis Cresap and ranked among the nation's top 20 Anheuser-Busch distributors. The Oklahoma City plant handles about 11 million cases.

John Cresap, the former chief executive of Premium Beers and son of the founder, says the decision to sell was difficult but that Anheuser-Busch will bring the resources required for growing the business in the coming years.

Anheuser-Busch vice president of wholesaler development Don Johnson says the company also has a distributorship in Tulsa.
