Bank Robbery Cleared

By Associated Press

Tahlequah, OK – Bank employee arrested for robbery

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) A man has been arrested for allegedly helping someone rob the bank where he works.

Authorities allege James Hughart admitted planning the Monday heist at the Bank of Commerce branch in Keys, and that Joshua Toney acted as the armed robber. Hughart is in the Cherokee County jail, but an arrest warrant has been issued for Toney.

Officials say Toney entered the bank through a back door Hughart allegedly opened for him, then he threatened Hughart and two others with a gun.

Undersheriff Jason Chennault says Toney made them wait in a restroom while he took more than $30,000 in cash.

Officials alleged that some money was found in Hughart's truck, and the weapon was found at his grandparents' home.

It wasn't known if Hughart had an attorney.
