BA Rep Wants Judge Gone

Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. lawmaker wants accused judge off the bench

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A state lawmaker says he plans to file legislation to remove a state judge charged with perjury and fraud.

State Rep. Mike Ritze of Broken Arrow said Tuesday he wants to remove Oklahoma County District Judge Tammy Bass-LeSure and will ask the Council of Judicial Complaints to investigate.

Bass-LeSure and her husband Karlos were charged on Friday with perjury and fraud in their role as foster parents to a set of twins. Prosecutors allege the judge and her husband accepted state money for the care of the twins but relegated that care to her bailiff's sister.

Ritze says the public is losing faith in the state's courts and that a system of accountability needs to be implemented. The judge's attorney, Richard Anderson, did not immediately return a telephone call.
