BA Ranked Among the Best
Money Magazine has announced its 2012 list of the “Best Places to Live,” and Broken Arrow made the Top 100 coming in at No. 69.
“We know what a wonderful city we live in,” said Broken Arrow Mayor Craig Thurmond. “But it’s always nice to see the rest of the country recognize what a great place Broken Arrow is to live and raise a family.”
Editors looked at cities that offer what American families care about most -- strong job opportunities, great schools, low crime, quality health care, and plenty to do.
“The name might bring to mind a fierce Indian warrior, but today this town, once settled by Creek Indians, is the safest city in Oklahoma,” said Money Magazine editors. “That, plus a quick 20-minute commute to Tulsa, affordable homes, high job growth, good schools, and sprawling parks, has sent Broken Arrow into high-growth mode. The city is doing its part by revitalizing the downtown; besides several new restaurants and retailers, there's now a performing arts center and a historical museum; a new events park is in the works.”
Carmel, IN., was ranked No. 1 on the list. Other Oklahoma cities on the list included Edmond, No. 73; Moore, No. 77; and Norman, No. 92.
Broken Arrow was also ranked in Money Magazine’s Top 100 in 2006 and 2010.
