From Annie Ellicott and Nathan Fifield: "Something Tells Me"

By Rich Fisher

Tulsa, Oklahoma – On today's program, a visit with pianist Nathan Fifield and vocalist Annie Ellicott, two outstanding Tulsa-area musicians who recently released a CD called "Something Tells Me: The Songs of Joseph and Nathan Fifield." Nathan is probably best known as the Musical Director for Tulsa Ballet, and Annie is a fine jazz singer whose been impressing audiences in Tulsa (and elsewhere) for the past seven or eight years now. The duo will be performing the all-original music on this CD --- a fetching blend of jazz, show tunes, and classic American pop; pretty tunes that are by turns infectious, confident, and tender --- at a special appearance at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame (in Tulsa at 111 East First Street) on Sunday the 24th at 5pm. As Nathan explains on this edition of our show, he'd been studying / messing with / planning on recording the music of his late brother Joseph --- who died a few years ago, tragically, at only 27 --- for some time, and when he happened to hear Annie singing, he knew he'd found the perfect voice to work with on "Something Tells Me."
