Amanda Hesser and "The Essential New York Times Cookbook"

Tulsa, Oklahoma – On today's edition of ST, we listen back to an interview that originally aired in late November with the noted food writer Amanda Hesser. At that time, she had just published a remarkable (and remarkably hefty) book, "The Essential New York Times Cookbook: Classic Recipes for a New Century." One critic, writing for Library Journal, has called this incredibly far-reaching culinary volume "an excellent addition for home chefs of all abilities." Hesser will be talking about this book, and signing copies of it, here in Tulsa tonight (Thursday the 13th) at 7pm at the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma (which is on North Kenosha Avenue). It's a Book Smart Tulsa event, and it's free to the public. Also on today's program, the recent publication of a new edition of "The Adventures of Huck Finn" has our commentator, Collin Hinds, remembering his own early impressions of race and racism --- and of Twain's classic novel.
