Kansas City, MO – Councilman says Jet Midwest considering KCI base

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) Kansas City Councilman Bill Skaggs says an aircraft overhaul base near the city's airport may have a new owner soon after American Airlines leaves.

The Kansas City Star reports that Skaggs says Jet Midwest, a Kansas City, Kan.,-based commercial aircraft and parts supplier, is considering relocating to the overhaul base near Kansas City International Airport.

The company has been negotiating with the airport's aviation department for about a year. Skaggs says Jet Midwest is ready to sign a lease as soon as the Kansas City City Council approves the move.

American announced plans in October to close its operations at the maintenance base by September.
