5 Charged with Looting After Moore Tornado

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Prosecutors have filed criminal charges against five people accused of looting in Moore after the deadly May 20 tornado.

Cleveland County District Attorney Greg Mashburn says prosecutors are working with police to make sure all offenders face charges for taking items from the ruins of homes and businesses in Moore.

The Oklahoman reports that five people have been charged with the misdemeanor offense of disturbing a disaster area.

One man is accused of taking a leather coach and two leather love seats from a damaged home. Two men and a woman are accused of working together to steal metal from a damaged neighborhood.

A fifth person is charged with stealing morphine from a damaged area.

All five have pleaded not guilty.
