Tulsa, OK – HSBC closing Tulsa operation
TULSA, Okla. (AP) HSBC Finance Corp. says it will close its Tulsa operation by the end of September, eliminating 465 jobs.
Rob Sherman, HSBC-North America vice president for public affairs, said in an e-mailed statement Wednesday that the decision to close HSBC Card Services was made after considering a range of factors, including efforts to balance operating costs and staffing needs across the company network.
HSBC Card Services primarily handled customer service and collections for the finance company's credit card business. In 2005, HSBC acquired Minnesota-based Metris Cos. Inc., which had a Tulsa office and several other operating centers around the nation.
Sherman says employees in Tulsa will have an opportunity to apply for open positions at other HSBC locations.
