2 Teenagers Killed in Cherokee County Crash

KWGS News Map

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says two teenagers from Tahlequah were killed and another was critically injured in a single-vehicle crash in Cherokee County.

Troopers say 14-year-old Michael Rogers and 19-year-old Paul Blevins died Saturday when the pickup truck they were riding in went off the roadway and struck a tree about 3:45 a.m. Investigators say Rogers and Blevins were both in the back of the truck and were thrown from the vehicle when it crashed.

A report on the collision says the truck was westbound at a high rate of speed when it ran a stop sign and slid into the tree.

Troopers say another passenger was hospitalized in stable condition while the driver and two passengers were treated and released and a seventh passenger was not injured.
