Tulsa, Ok – With better than anticipated budget figures, the Tulsa Public Schools is recalling 188 teachers. The educators were laid-off at the end of the school year in May because of budget shortfalls. The biggest group of teachers, 107, will be returning to the elementary classroom. 29-will be going to the district's middle schools and 52 will be in Tulsa's nine high schools.
The teachers selected for call-back were picked on the TPS service record and classroom effectiveness.
The school district still has openings for special education instructors and hopes to fill those positions next week.
