162 Pounds of Pot Siezed in Oklahoma

Oklahoma County Sheriff

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office says a deputy who made a traffic stop wound up finding 162 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle.

The agency said Wednesday that four people were arrested in the Monday incident near Interstate 35 and Hefner Road.

Officials say the driver provided conflicting information about where he was headed and why he and the three other people in the SUV were on the road.

The deputy had his drug-sniffing dog walk around the vehicle after noticing that the fuel tank appeared altered.

Nine bundles of compressed marijuana were recovered from the fuel tank.

All four people in the car were arrested on a complaint of marijuana trafficking.

The suspects are from El Paso, Texas.
