Tulsa, OK – Oklahoma City marks 15 years since bombing
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Survivors and family members of those who died in the Oklahoma City bombing gathered this morning to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the attack.
U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, former Governor Frank Keating and current Governor Brad Henry were among those who spoke at the ceremony.
Napolitano said Oklahoma City's history will not be written by the attack but by the outpouring of community support that came afterward. She also says the threat of terrorism has not gone away in the 15 years since the bombing.
Hundreds turned out at the Oklahoma City National Memorial to remember the 168 people killed in the April 19, 1995, explosion. More than 600 others were injured in the attack at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building.
The dead were remembered with 168 seconds of silence.
