1 homeless man = $160,000 in one year

By AP

Oklahoma City, OK – Oklahoma City Municipal Judge William J. Manger knows Floyd Crawford on a first-name basis.
That can't be said about very many inmates in the Oklahoma County Jail, but Crawford is a regular in Manger's court, and at the jail. The 66-year-old Crawford, who is homeless, has been arrested more than 450 times since 1989, according to city police, Oklahoma County jail and state records. Most were misdemeanor complaints of public drunkenness or trespassing, and more than 360 arrests have come since April 2002.
A report by the city on the costs of homelessness says the city spent more than $160,000 during the year that ended March 31 on housing and feeding Crawford.
Crawford's most recent arrest was last Wednesday on a public drunkenness complaint.
