1 Found Dead After Fire at Choctaw Apartments

CHOCTAW, Okla. (AP) — Authorities are investigating after a person was found dead in a fire at an apartment complex in Choctaw.

Oklahoma City television station KWTV reports that the fire broke out Thursday night at Mill Creek Apartments in Choctaw. Flames were shooting from the structure when firefighters arrived, and it took crews about 45 minutes to get the blaze under control.

Authorities say firefighters discovered a person's body when crews entered the apartment.

Oklahoma County Sheriff John Whetsel says the fire was contained to one apartment in the building. The sheriff says crews believe they've identified the victim, but the person's name won't be released until relatives are notified.
