HOLDENVILLE, Okla. (AP) An Oklahoma trooper previously suspended for fighting with an ambulance driver is on paid administrative leave after being accused of using excessive force.
Trooper Daniel Martin is accused of beating Khristopher Douglas of Holdenville. Douglas says he was at a friend's home helping with renovations Saturday when troopers pulled up to handle an apparent traffic stop.
Oklahoma City, OK – Budget cuts to mean fewer hot meals for needy srs.
TULSA, Okla. (AP) Officials who provide services to the elderly say recent budget cuts will mean fewer hot meals for frail and isolated senior citizens.
The Commission for Human Services has cut $14.6 million from its budget because of a drop in state revenue. The cuts include $7.4 million to the Aging Services Division that includes the senior nutrition program.
Tulsa, OK – Family of flu victim can't afford funeral
TULSA, Okla. (AP) The family of a 16-year-old flu victim is unable to afford the cost of his funeral.
LaTowyn Gaston, a sophomore at East Central High School, died Thursday from Type A influenza. Health officials are trying to determine if it was swine flu. His aunt, Deneeco Young, says he died a day after his 16th birthday.
Young says Gaston started feeling ill Wednesday and was taken to St. Francis Hospital. He died about 9:40 p.m. Thursday.
