Tulsa, OK – Oklahoma Department of Transportation crews across the state are monitoring road conditions in areas where there is moisture and precipitation and treating roads as necessary. All roads remain open at this time.
Crews have been sanding and salting primarily bridges and overpasses, which tend to freeze first.
Early this morning, crews began sanding/salting in the central portion of the state, including the Oklahoma City metro area, as moisture moved across Oklahoma.
Tulsa, OK – Oklahoma City Zoo elephant is pregnant
TULSA, Okla. (AP) The effort to breed an Oklahoma City Zoo elephant with a male at the Tulsa Zoo is an apparent success.
Zoo officials say the elephant Asha conceived in July after the first breeding attempt with the male Sneezy and is expected to give birth in May 2011. Her sister Chandra also mated with Sneezy but that attempt was not successful.
Oklahoma City, OK – Federal funding threatens state road projects
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma Transportation Commission has set dates to open bids on road and bridge projects without knowing whether it will have enough federal dollars to pay for them.
The commission Monday set a final date to open bids in January and tentative dates for February and March bid openings. But state Transportation Secretary Gary Ridley says questions remain about how much federal aid the projects will receive.
TULSA, Okla. (AP) An online report says inmates testifying before a federal grand jury investigating police corruption are being questioned about alleged missing money, nonexistent informants and corrupted search warrants.
The Tulsa World reported the development on its Web site Saturday. It said the grand jury was meeting in a secret location to investigate alleged corruption of officers assigned to the Tulsa Police Department's Special Investigations Division.
