Woodward, OK – 1 person burned in Okla. chemical fire

WOODWARD, Okla. (AP) Officials say one person was hurt when a flash fire erupted at a chemical plant near Woodward.

Woodward County Emergency Management Director Matt Lehenbauer says firefighters were called at 8:53 a.m. Tuesday about a fire at Deepwater Chemicals near the Woodward Airport.

Figures Released

Tulsa, OK – The sales tax collections for mid-April to mid-May, as reported by the Oklahoma Tax Commission today, are near levels reported for the same period last month and ahead of projections.

Although the sales tax collections reported in May had increased, the City's small decline was anticipated and is in line with projections for the next fiscal year.

Crime Scene Grant Request

Tulsa, OK – C-S-I-Tulsa!

Tulsa City and County are filing for a joint application to hire four civilian crime analysts. The amount totals 665-thousand dollars. The City would get 627-thousand of that. The grant is from the U-S Department of Justice---in the form of a Justice Assistance Grant.

The grant appears on tomorrow morning's eight o'clock City Council agenda.

Oklahoma City, OK – Henry vetoes 2 bills involving examiner's office

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Gov. Brad Henry's office says he has vetoed two bills that a district attorney says are at the heart of an investigation involving three legislators.

The announcement of the vetoes from Henry's office Sunday said the measures were fatally flawed and not in the best interest of the state.

Lawmaker Won't Run

Oklahoma City, OK – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) An Oklahoma City state representative now under investigation by the Oklahoma County District Attorney's office says he'll drop his bid for an open state Senate seat. Republican Rep. Mike Christian told The Oklahoman he won't run for the Senate seat because he must now focus his efforts on defending himself. Christian says he'll instead run for re-election to his current post.
