Gubernatorial Candidates Debate in Tulsa

Tulsa, Oklahoma – TULSA, Okla. (AP) Oklahoma's two candidates for governor agreed more times than not during a moderated forum on the state ballot questions.

Republican nominee U.S. Rep. Mary Fallin and Democratic Lt. Gov. Jari Askins discussed the 11 ballot measures Wednesday as part of the Rotary Club of Tulsa's gubernatorial forum.

Overnight Fire in Tulsa

Tulsa, OK –
Three people are taken to the hospital following an overnight fire in mid-town Tulsa. The blaze was reported about 2a.m. this morning at a duplex near 11th and South Wheeling. The duplex was destroyed by the blaze. The fire spread to a nearby house and caused minor damage there.

The injured suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported by EMSA to the hospital to be evaluated. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

City Says "Yes" to Grant

Tulsa, OK – The City of Tulsa will accept a grant from the Justice Department to hire additional police officers. Mayor Bartlett made the announcement yesterday afternoon. The $4.4 million dollar grant will pay the salaries and benefits of 23-officers for three years. After that period, the city must agree to keep the officers on the payroll for a fourth year.

Follow-Up to Police Shooting

Muskogee, OK – OSBI asked to investigate police shooting

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has been asked to look into the officer-involved shooting of a woman in Muskogee last week.

In a letter to the agency, Muskogee County District Attorney Larry Moore said certain circumstances had arisen since the shooting that warranted further investigation. Moore declined on Tuesday to say what those circumstances were.

Execution Date Sought

Oklahoma City, OK – Execution date sought for Okla. death row inmate

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has been asked to set an execution date for Pittsburg County death row inmate John David Duty.

Attorney General Drew Edmondson's office requested an execution date Tuesday, a day after the U.S. Supreme Court denied Duty's final appeal.

Oklahoma Court Cases Rejected

Oklahoma City, OK – US Supreme Court declines to hear 3 Okla. appeals

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Separate appeals by three Oklahoma inmates were declined by the U.S. Supreme Court as it opened its latest session.

The court rejected hundreds of cases as its term began Monday. Among them were appeals by an Oklahoma death row inmate, another convicted killer and a convicted drug smuggler.

Washington, D.C. – Coburn signs pledge for congressional term limits

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn has signed a pledge to support a constitutional amendment limiting the terms of members of Congress.

U.S. Term Limits said Monday that Coburn, R-Okla., is the first member of Congress to sign the pledge.

Coburn spokesman John Hart confirmed Coburn's support of the proposal. He said Coburn believes term limits is the only way to achieve the government envisioned by the nation's Founding Fathers.

Tulsa, OK – Oneok plans to invest more than $300M in projects

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Oneok Partners LP says it plans to invest between $300 million and $355 million by the end of 2012 in projects in the Bakken Shale in North Dakota.

The Tulsa-based company says the investments will include spending between $180 million and $205 million to build a natural gas processing facility in western Williams County in North Dakota and related natural gas liquids infrastructure.
