Fair Rides Get Inspection

Tulsa, OK – The 2010 Tulsa State Fair opens at four this afternoon. The mid-way rides are being inspected by the state department of labor. Labor Commissioner Lloyd Fields was on the mid-way with his inspectors yesterday.

We asked what happens if they find a ride that isn't up to par. If it can't be fixed, Fields says the ride will not operate.

Tulsa Gets New Fire Marshal

Tulsa, OK – Mayor Dewey Bartlett announced today that Mark Sipe will fill the appointment as Fire Marshal for the City of Tulsa. Sipe has over twenty years of experience with the Tulsa Fire Department and served as District Chief in Emergency Operations prior to this appointment.

Tulsa, OK – It has been called a public nuisance. It has been the scene of numerous fires. It has over $300,000 worth of code violations pending against it. But despite all that, the Tulsa Club is getting a new owner.

Tulsa realtor Jeff Scott tells us he has put down earnest money on the building---but he is not sure what he will do with it.

Public documents list the sale price at $1.1 million.

Dollar Thrifty Update

Tulsa, OK – 2 auto rental giants still seeking Tulsa firm

TULSA, Okla. (AP) The board of Tulsa-based Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group is still urging stockholders to approve an offer by Hertz Global Holdings for all the stock in Dollar Thrifty.

A stockholder vote on the offer is set for Thursday, despite a request on Monday by Avis Burdget Group to put off the vote until Dec. 30. Avis has also made an offer for Dollar Thrifty's stock.

Pot Field Found Near Enid

Enid, OK – Okla. authorities destroy uncultivated marijuana

ENID, Okla. (AP) Garfield County authorities are destroying uncultivated marijuana plants found growing wild.

Lt. Shon Jackson told the Enid News & Eagle that the plants were sprayed with a herbicide and red dye Tuesday afternoon. The dye is to warn anyone who comes across the plants that they have been sprayed with herbicide.

Plane Crash near Tulsa

Tulsa Fire Fighters responded to the plane crash scene in Creek County.

Tulsa, OK – Emergency units rushed the scene of a small plane crash southwest of Tulsa.

The crash happened in the 7800 Block of 41st West Avenue in Creek County.

That is roughly four miles west of the Jones Riverside Airport. KWGS' Denise Brewer was on the scene. She reported the injuries were minor. The two passengers, a Spartan student and instructor, were taken to St-Francis Hospital. They are 28 and 26 years old. They suffered minor burns. Both walked away from the crash.
