Chilly Weather

Tulsa, OK – Cold Canadian air is flowing into Oklahoma. We are expecting the coldest temperatures of this season. Tulsa National Weather Service Director Steve Peltz says we can expect hard freezes tonight, tomorrow night and Friday night. He says wind chills could be down in the teens by Saturday morning.

Afghan Reaction

Washington, D.C. – Delegation encouraged by Afghanistan decision

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Members of Oklahoma's congressional delegation say they're encouraged that President Obama is sending 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan.

Obama told the nation Tuesday night that his new policy was designed to bring the war "to a successful conclusion."

Public Works Audit

That is the message from City Councilor Jack Henderson concerning the recent Public Works performance audit.

Henderson fears some members of the council and the public works department are trying to explain-away the audit's negative findings.

The recent audit suggested the public works charge other agencies for support help.

Oklahoma City, OK – Lawmaker wants DPS recordings to be made public

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A state senator has filed a bill that would allow audio and video recordings of the Department of Public Safety to be made public.

The bill by Sen. Jim Wilson, a Tahlequah Democrat, would amend the Oklahoma Open Records Act to include the recordings, which now do not fall under the definition of a "record."

Tulsa, OK – State employees group wants Dec. special session

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The state's largest state workers organization says it agrees with Republican state Senate leaders who are calling for a special session of the Legislature in December.

The Oklahoma Public Employees Association said Monday declining revenues are forcing many state employees to face furloughs, reductions-in-force and voluntary buyouts and that immediate action is needed.

Daugherty Remembered

Thousands fill the ORU Mabee Center for the memorial service for Rev. Billy Joe Daugherty.

Tulsa, OK – Thousands filled the O-R-U Mabee Center to remember the Reverend Billy Joe Daugherty. Daugherty was remembered by O-R-U Board Chair Mart Green, who called him "an evangelist at heart"

The charismatic founder of the Victory Christian Center was remembered by O-R-U founder Oral Roberts. Roberts, in a pre-recorded statement said Daugherty "reached out with his soul. His soul seemed to have hands and his hands seemed to be filled with love."

Daugherty died on November 20th. Doctors diagnosed him with cancer during the summer. He was 57.

Wright Remains

Tulsa, OK – Elizabeth Wright remains on the Planning Commission. County Commissioner Karen Keith's motion to remove Wright from office failed due to a lack of a second.

Keith wanted Wright---who lives in mid-town--- off the planning commission so that she could appoint someone who lives in her west-and-south district.

Keith had claimed Wright had violated conflict-of-interest provisions.
