Possible Cuts in IT at City Hall

Tulsa, OK – The Tulsa City Council discusses trimming back the Information Technology Department. The department has numerous division heads that make over $100,000 a year. The council is considering trimming the department's budget by $1.3 million. That would be about a 7.7% budget cut.

OCC furloughs ahead

Tulsa, OK – The Oklahoma Corporation Commission today announced a furlough plan to deal with budget shortfalls for the remainder of the fiscal year. Employees will take unpaid furlough days on February 12, March 19, April 9, April 30, May 14, May 28, June 1, and June 25. All Commission offices will be closed on those days.

OCC Director of Administration Brooks Mitchell stressed the plan is subject to change, depending on changes in the agency's funding.

Tulsa, Ok – Last night at 8:45 Tulsa Police Officer W. Wolthuis, who had recently been transferred to the field from the Special Investigations Division, conducted a traffic stop at 1400 E Jasper St. The driver of the vehicle speeds away and parked in the driveway of 904 N Quincy.

Another Quake at Jones

Jones, OK – JONES, Okla. (AP) Another earthquake has struck near Jones in eastern Oklahoma County.

According to the U.S. and Oklahoma Geological surveys, a 2.5-magnitude quake occurred about 3 miles southeast of Jones, or about 17 miles northeast of Oklahoma City, around 5:43 p.m. Monday.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injury.

Earthquakes have been rattling the area for months.

Winter Storm Wrap-up

Tulsa, OK – Public Works Street Maintenance personnel have completed clearing arterial streets of the ice and snow that fell on Thursday and Friday, Jan. 29-30.

From Thursday morning through 12 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, Street Maintenance crews applied 2,481 tons of salt and 35.5 tons of salt and sand mixture to arterial streets. Crews drove 30,523 arterial lane miles and plowed 17,845 arterial lane miles.
