Tulsa, OK – Change would affect Okla. St, Langston dispute
TULSA, Okla. (AP) Oklahoma State University-Tulsa's president says a proposed change in a law that prevents the school from duplicating degree programs offered by Langston University-Tulsa will emphasize the need to resolve the issue.
The law giving Langston-Tulsa a monopoly on the programs is part of a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice over historic segregation in Oklahoma's higher education system.
Oklahoma City, OK – Choctaws reburying ancestors unearthed decades ago
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma is leading an effort to rebury 124 bodies believed to be those of their ancestors.
The tribal members died five centuries ago. Archeologists exhumed the bodies in excavations along the Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi in the 1950s and 1963 but the remains ended up in museum storage.
Dacoma, OK – Oil rig explodes in NW Oklahoma, injuring 1
DACOMA, Okla. (AP) Authorities say one person was burned when an oil rig exploded in northwestern Oklahoma.
Oklahoma Corporation Commission spokesman Matt Skinner says the blast occurred about noon Saturday near Dacoma in Woods County. Skinner says the well is operated by Tulsa-based Eagle Energy Co., and Dan D Drilling was contracted to do the drilling.

Tulsa, OK – Man killed outside Tulsa apartment complex
TULSA, Okla. (AP) Police in Tulsa say a man was shot and killed while driving through an apartment complex in the southeast part of the city.
Officers say 27-year-old Ahmad Thompson was found just before 2:45 a.m. Friday with several gunshot wounds lying next to a sport utility vehicle in the parking lot of the complex. Thompson was taken to St. Francis Hospital where he died.
Investigators say Thompson was apparently driving through the parking lot when he was shot.
Tulsa, Ok – Tulsa's Community Action Project will be administering a $250,00 grant from the Housing and Urban Development Grant. HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan made the announcement is a conference call this morning.
This grant will be used to help renovate the Brightwater Apartments. The complex feeds the Eugene Fields Elementary School in west Tulsa.
Also on the conference calls was Federal Education Secretary Arne Duncan praised the effort.
Oklahoma City, OK – Officials: Flu deaths in Oklahoma climbs to 19
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma State Health Department officials say another person has died of influenza complications, bringing the total this season to 19.
The Health Department reported yesterday that the latest flu death was an Oklahoma County resident in the 65 and older age group. Officials say 47 percent of flu deaths have occurred in the 65 and older age group.
