Tulsa, OK – A Heat Alert is issued for the Tulsa area by EMSA. The Emergency Medical Service issued the warning after five people were transported to the hospital on Saturday because of heart related injuries. The Service reports that most of those transported were working out-of-doors and had little hydration.
Henryetta, OK – A head on collision on the Indian Nation Turnpike leaves six people dead. The crash happened Saturday morning. The drive of one car over-corrected from a lane changes and crossed the center median into oncoming traffic. Five of those killed were in one car and from Tulsa. The other driver was from McAlester.
Joplin, MO – Lawmaker: Joplin doctors need free Okla licenses
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A physician and state lawmaker wants Gov. Mary Fallin to allow doctors displaced by the Joplin, Mo., tornado to obtain temporary Oklahoma medical licenses free of charge.
Rep. Doug Cox of Grove, an emergency room physician at Integris Grove, says patients from Missouri are coming to northeastern Oklahoma hospitals because they cannot get in to see their regular physician.
Tulsa County gets more eco-friendly. The newest county owned community center in Chandler Park is installing solar panels to provide half the facility's power. Commissioner Karen Keith says it will help the environment and save taxpayers' money
The 265-thousand dollars for the solar panel project comes from a federal Energy Department grant.
Moore, OK – Okla. company recalls chicken, ham products
MOORE, Okla. (AP) An Oklahoma-based food company is recalling nearly 23,000 pounds of chicken and ham products due to mislabeling.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture says Allison's Gourmet Kitchens, Inc. is recalling the food because the packaging does not list the ingredients potassium sorbate and/or sodium benzoate. The company is based in Moore, Okla.
