Tulsa, OK – Feds sue to block Arizona illegal immigrant law
TULSA, OK (AP) The U.S. Justice Department has filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Arizona's tough new law targeting illegal immigrants.
The government filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Phoenix on Tuesday. In Tulsa, Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn says Arizona is following federal law, something, he says, the federal government is not doing.
Tulsa, OK – Former Skiatook School Superintendent Gary Johnson will be in court tomorrow morning. He is facing charges of embezzlement and bribery in connection with over-spending in the Skiatook district.
Johnson was indicted by a grand jury last month. He will enter a not guilty plea and ask for a preliminary hearing.
Tulsa, OK – Man dies after stabbing while at Tulsa taco stand
TULSA, Okla. (AP) A 33-year-old man has died after an early morning stabbing at a Tulsa mobile taco stand.
Police say witnesses reported that an ongoing feud between the attacker and victim led to the stabbing about 3:10 a.m. Monday. Sgt. Pat Calhoun says an unidentified man jumped out of a vehicle that had pulled up to the taco stand and a fight broke out.
Oklahoma City, Ok – Rain continuing in Oklahoma; flood warnings issued
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Forecasters are issuing flood warnings as sometimes-heavy rain continues to fall in parts of Oklahoma.
According to the Oklahoma Mesonet, about 6.4 inches of rain fell in Hobart in Kiowa County between midnight and 8 a.m. Monday. About 3.6 inches fell during the same period in nearby Fort Cobb in Caddo County.
Parts of seven counties in southwestern Oklahoma are under flash flood warnings.
Boise City, OK – 3 from Tulsa area die in Okla. Panhandle crash
BOISE CITY, Okla. (AP) Three people have died after their pickup collided with a tractor-trailer on a remote highway in the Oklahoma Panhandle.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 63-year-old Freddie Lee Cornwell of Tulsa, 72-year-old Wanda Carter of Sapulpa and 74-year-old Gerald C. Carter of Sapulpa died in the accident about 11:20 a.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 287 about 15 miles north of Boise City in Cimarron County.
