Lawsuit Filed in E-Coli Case

Pryor, OK – PRYOR, Okla. (AP) A lawsuit has been filed against a Locust Grove restaurant seeking more than $3 million on behalf of 14 people sickened by an August 2008 outbreak of E. coli.

The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in Mayes County District Court against the Country Cottage restaurant on behalf of 12 families. The plaintiffs are represented by a Pryor law firm and a Seattle, Wa.-based firm that specializes in foodborne illness litigation.

Kathy Taylor's Future

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor will rejoin Governor Henry's staff when her term in office wraps up in December. Taylor will join the Governor's office as the Chief of Education Strategy and Innovation.

Her current Chief of Staff, Amy Polonchek, will also join Taylor in the office.

She was the State Commerce Secretary prior to running for Mayor of Tulsa in 2006. As with the Mayor's office, Taylor will not accept a salary.

Unemployment Rate Jumps

Oklahoma City, OK – The news is not good for those looking for work.

Tulsa's unemployment rate took another spike last month. The rate jumped to seven-point-one percent according to preliminary figures from the state department of Employment Security.

The Tulsa rate is at its highest point in over 15-years. This time last year, the rate was less than four percent.

Bartlett Picks Up County Endorsements

Tulsa, OK – Tulsa Mayoral Candidate Dewey Bartlett picked up the endorsement of top county Republicans. The County's relationship has been stormy under Taylor administration. Both sides filed lawsuits against each other over the use of the Tulsa Jail. There has also been bickering between the two governments over the Tulsa Fair Grounds which was annexed by the city.

OG&E to Buy Wind Power

Oklahoma City, OK – OG&E to buy power from 2 planned wind farms

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma Gas and Electric has agreed to buy power from two new wind farms that are planned for northwestern Oklahoma.

OG&E on Tuesday announced 20-year power-purchase agreements with the developers of the projects. CPV Keenan submitted a proposal to build a 150-megawatt wind farm in Woodward County while Edison Mission Energy plans to build a 130-megawatt facility in Dewey County near Taloga.

Billings, OK – Funeral arrangements announced for Bellmon

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Funeral services have been scheduled for former Oklahoma governor and U.S. Sen. Henry Bellmon.

Bellmon, Oklahoma's first Republican governor since statehood, died Tuesday at the age of 88.

Bellmon's former chief of staff, Andrew Tevington, says Bellmon's body will lie in state at the state Capitol on Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Members of his family and former staff will be present.

UPDATE: Police Shooting

The officer in involved in the fatal shooting has been identified as Officer Kevin Warne. Warne graduated the academy in December 2002. He will remain on Administrative Leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
