Strong Storm Causes Problems

Oklahoma City, OK – Wintry precipitation to end across Oklahoma Friday

A potent winter storm that blanketed parts of the state with snow and ice is forecast to exit Oklahoma and the southern Plains on Friday.

The National Weather Service said snow may fall on the back side of the system as it tracks eastward, but the precipitation should end from west to east.

Storm Update

Tulsa, OK – Emergency declared, winter storm crawls into Okla.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Schools across Oklahoma and state government offices are closed as a powerful storm with snow and freezing rain moved into the state.

Several flights were also canceled Thursday at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City and at Tulsa International Airport.

Ice snapped electrical lines in southwestern Oklahoma and left about 100 electrical customers near Hobart without power.

Tulsa, OK – Tulsa police reject plan, mayor says layoffs next

TULSA, Okla. (AP) The Fraternal Order of Police in Tulsa have overwhelmingly rejected a proposal that Mayor Dewey Bartlett says would have prevented layoffs.

Officer David Turner said Wednesday that 90 percent of those voting on the proposal rejected it. City officials say that means 155 officers will be laid off Friday.
