McAlester, OK – 2 people killed in SE Oklahoma house fire
McALESTER, Okla. (AP) Authorities say two women have been killed in a house fire in McAlester.
McAlester Fire Chief Brett Brewer says firefighters received a call early Tuesday about a fire at a residence and found two people in the front yard of the home. Brewer says crews learned there were two more people inside, but firefighters were unable to get them out because of the intensity of the blaze.
Norman, OK – Fallin, leaders want EPA to back off regulations
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) Gov. Mary Fallin is concerned about Environmental Protection Agency regulations she says are hurting Oklahoma's oil and natural gas industry.
Fallin spoke to energy producers and students Tuesday during a conference at the University of Oklahoma, promising them she'd do everything she could to fight what many in the industry see as burdensome regulations.
Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. panel OKs nursing home binding arbitration
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Legislation that would authorize nursing home residents to voluntarily agree to binding arbitration when a dispute arises with a facility has been approved by an Oklahoma House committee.
The House Long-Term Care and Senior Services Committee voted 8-0 Tuesday to send the measure to the House floor for a vote. The bill has already been approved by the Senate.
