Oklahoma City, OK – High court lets stand ruling on Okla. strip search

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A federal appeals court ruling that a strip search of a woman in Le Flore County violated her constitutional rights is being allowed to stand.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined without comment to hear an appeal of the ruling that Lorri Myers' rights were violated by the search.

Hammon, OK – Tornado touches down in Oklahoma

HAMMON, Okla. (AP) Authorities say at least five homes have been destroyed and other structures damaged by a tornado in western Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management spokeswoman Michelann Ooten (MYK'-ul-an OO'-tehn) says there were no reports of any injuries with the storm, which was first spotted about 5:15 p.m. Monday.

Oklahoma City, OK – Former state senator joins AG race

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A former state senator and current co-owner of the Oklahoma City RedHawks minor-league baseball team says he plans to launch a campaign for attorney general.

Republican Scott Pruitt released a statement Monday indicating he will seek the post being vacated by Democratic Attorney General Drew Edmondson, who is running for governor.

Norman, OK – Panetta: US efforts putting al-Qaida on the run

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) CIA Director Leon Panetta says America's counterterrorism operations are putting senior al-Qaida leaders under tremendous pressure.

Panetta made the comments Monday during a foreign policy conference at the University of Oklahoma. Panetta says al-Qaida is an adaptive, resilient group of terrorists whose top goal is to attack the United States.

Oklahoma City, OK – Bill authorizes towing of uninsured vehicles

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma motorists who drive without insurance could have their vehicles impounded under a bill approved in the Oklahoma House.

The House voted 87-8 on Monday for House Bill 2331 by Bartlesville Republican Rep. Steve Martin.

Martin says the bill authorizes police to utilize a new instant verification system that allows them to determine if vehicles are covered by required liability insurance.

Tulsa, OK – Following last Friday's three alarm fire at the London Square Apartments, an effort is underway to help the 28-families displaced by the fire.

An effort is underway to help the families obtain replacement furniture. Donations will be accepted at the Community Sharehouse at 1120 North Peoria all this week from 9AM-to-2PM.

Tulsa, OK – Sales tax figures have now been down for 12-months in a row. Figures released yesterday show sales tax collections were off nearly two million dollars from the same period last year.

The City's Michelle Allen tells KWGS News that the finance department is reviewing the figures, including why there was a drastic drop in the Tulsa Use Tax. Allen says it is doubtful the new figures will mean additional lay-offs at city hall, but that will not be known for sure until the finance department finishes its review.
