Football Crack Down

Tulsa, OK – Tighter security, no congregating outside the stands, i-d checks, and higher ticket prices Those are consequences of the near-riot at the Washington-East Central football game last Friday night.

At an education service center briefing, Tulsa superintendent Dr. Keith Ballard outlined changes being made because of the Friday fracas.

Other crackdowns that may be coming include moving some games to Saturday and pre-selling tickets to the games.

UPDATE: Bartlesville Fire

Bartlesville, OK – We are learning more about the cause of a downtown Bartlesville Fire.

It was a meth lab operating on the second floor of the old May's Brothers Department store that caused the blaze.

Bartlesville Assistant Fire Chief Bill Hollander made the announcement in a news conference yesterday. The fire last month destroyed much of the 99-year-old downtown building.

Health Care Reform Debate

Oklahoma City, OK – 2 groups rally at state Capitol

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Two groups held separate rallies at the state Capitol one calling for health care reform and one criticizing recent actions of the federal government.

An estimated 300 marched to the south side of the Capitol at noon Sunday saying health care is a right and that a public option would not increase health costs.

Soggy Week Ahead

Undated – UNDATED (AP) Flood watches are in effect across Oklahoma as heavy rain falls across the state.

Forecasters say more showers and thunderstorms are likely on Monday.

The National Weather Service says a cold front that eased into the state on Friday has moved farther south than originally forecast. That has increased the possibility of heavy rainfall overnight and early tomorrow, especially in southern Oklahoma.

TU Wins Again

Albuquerque, NM – Kinne guides Tulsa past New Mexico 44-10

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) G.J. Kinne threw for 310 yards and four touchdowns Saturday to help Tulsa defeat New Mexico 44-10.

The Golden Hurricane (2-0) took advantage of early mistakes by the Lobos (0-2), then got their offense in high gear in the second half.

Kinne threw two touchdown passes to Slick Shelley and one each to Damaris Johnson and Jamad Williams before being removed in the fourth quarter.

Over Two Dozen Homeless in Tulsa Fire

Tulsa, OK – A Tulsa apartment fire leaves 27-people homeless. The blaze was reported Friday night at a complex near 61st and Riverside Drive. Two apartments were directly impacted by the fire another 10-had heavy smoke damage.

The Red Cross was dispatched to the scene to help nine different families. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
